Pros

The director, clinical pastoral education supervisor, and all staff chaplains are invested in your success as a resident and readily provide advice and support. I couldn't have asked for a better learning environment when I was in my residency.

Cons

Low pay for a full-time role that requires an advanced degree, though I know the department director regularly advocates for the rate to increase. The hours (7:30 AM-4:00 PM) are less than ideal for someone who lives outside of Tacoma.

We’re so glad to hear that you felt supported by the director, CPE supervisor, and chaplain team, and that your residency provided a strong learning environment — that’s exactly what we strive to create. We also appreciate your candid feedback regarding compensation and scheduling. Thank you again for sharing your perspective and for being part of the program.
