Horrible Management + Toxic Environment = Bad Morale;

Pros

I cannot think of one positive aspect in regards to working at CHI St. Luke’s- Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center.

Cons

Supervisors and other management are absolutely horrible! They do not care about their employees as anything other than instruments for making the hospital money. They purposely understaff, but refuse to reduce the patient volume to match the limited number of staff simply to maximize their profits. Departments are poorly organized, yet management is excessively strict in regards to employee policies. They even refuse to provide adequate equipment and work supplies. The atmosphere is toxic and the overall morale is pathetic. There is no such thing as “teamwork” as every employee is only out for his/her self. There is usually one person, possibly two in every department who does the majority of the work while the rest of the staff only pretend to be busy. Benefits are awful and employees are basically restricted to using only Baylor doctors, otherwise insurance will not pay anything. If you interview with CHI St. Luke’s - Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center, they will promise you the moon to get you hired. But once you’re there, they do not reliever on any of their promises. Beware of this place! It literally is just a massive “sweat shop” masquerading as (in their own ridiculously egocentric words) a “World Class Health are Organization.” Nothing could be farther from the truth. Avoid this place at all costs!

Used to be good

Pros

Pay is decent, coworkers are like family. PTO good after being there over 5 years.

Cons

Leadership is more concerned with how they look instead of their people. Certain leaders are protected by HR and those that speak out end up gone. PTO includes sick time and holiday pay. High turnover due to leadership and mass departures do not warrant investigation by HR. Most recent layoff cycle of 230+ employees was never reported to the media, and happened after forced PTO and then bonuses were given. Layoffs seemed to be personal and not in the best interest of the business.
