Pros
Strong corporate culture (when not forced down your throat), great people to work with (who are not in management roles), laid-back atmosphere, great "starter job."
Cons
Several, starting with an out-of-touch group of leaders. Poor management in several departments, especially within operations, human resources, and product research. Nepotism and favoritism are the only ways employees can be promoted, transferred or praised, and many managers are in their roles based on tenure and not performance. Professional development is lacking even though it is one of the main components of the organization's mission. Flip charts of lists and limited discussion does not constitute top-level professional development. Looking to get promoted or switch jobs? Good luck! Those decisions are made even before the job posting is public. While it may have once been "anything but common" Commonwealth Financial Network is as common as anything else.
