Pros

Rewarding work with students; an opportunity to engage the local community with the schools; ability to use your own creativity to provide programming to the students; good entry-level position

Cons

Very low salary for level of education received; expected caseload number unreasonably high; too much paperwork; not enough support from supervisors; very poor training received upon hiring; relatively no potential for career growth

Good work, no growth

Pros

You get to work with at risk youth, and really change lives. Students will truly appreciate what you do. Its one of those "the work is its own reward" type of things.

Cons

The pay is horrible, there is no room for growth, and the health benefits are the worst Ive ever seen. The agency is more concerned about taking care of the funders and politics then it is about taking care of its employees.
