      Corporate greed on steroids

      Pros

      Okay insurance plan. Good physician staff.

      Cons

      No regard for employees. I know of one employee of 30 years summarily fired as a cost cutting measure...by Email. CHS customarily pays wages in the lower 1/3 of market rates. Nurses are routinely denied time off for doctor's visits and the like even with several weeks notice. Profits are far more important than patients. Employee turnover is high. The only comraderie among employees stems from the feeling that misery loves company.

      Leadership is lacking from the top down

      Pros

      Stable job. They love to boast about not having laid of employees. Since they use a large contractor force they are able to let them go without touching their employees.

      Cons

      Lower level management and Directors are terrified of the C level. Salaries are low and their are no bonuses or compensation for completing business objectives. Salary levels are defended in meetings as being in line with average field salaries. This is achieved by using basic titles such as "Systems Analyst" or Security Engineer". Since these are very generic titles compared to your job functions it allows CHS to compete on paper.

      Pros

      Some good co-workers; nice office building.

      Cons

      Lack of leadership; no incentives-work hard & you just get more work; minimal merit increases; management does not know what is going on; waste too much money on expense accounts (travel); nepitism; leadership is worried about themselves not their team/department as a whole; leadership not approachable, especially w/new ideas; poor technical support; "Old-Boy Network".
