Pros

Enthusiastic people, nice workplace, salary is paid in time. It can be a good experience for someone with no job experience..

Cons

No clear structure, poor communication, employees come and go. The management team reacts to our feedback only when it is in their interest or when something bad happens. Many people leaving, even from management. Poor HR department, slow computers,

Pros

This is a Customer Service call center job. If you enjoy customer service, there are a variety of contracts and responsibilities. Paid Time Off is earned monthly and increases with time (initially, equivalent to about 3 weeks vacation).

Cons

Unfair/Unequal treatment - examples: - company attendance policy is not enforced across the board (at 8 points, you are supposed to be terminated, but we had an associate with 10 points and he was not); - Even if you are obviously sick (like the flu), if you don't have a doctor's note, you still get charged a point if you call out sick - AND you cannot use your PTO hours to cover your sick time. - they reward poor employees far too much, giving them "point buy-back coupons" to reduce the number of points against them; - PTO (paid time off) requests are denied for no reason, while others get their requests; - during interview, was told I could earn a raise in 6-12 months, but a few months after hire, was told there had been a wage freeze in effect for several years; - shift bid process is arbitrary; - once you are hired into a specific queue, it is impossible to get out (no lateral transfers); - they do so few call monitors, that your meager "bonus" is usually based on one call monitor (bonus is about $100 a month on average - or less); - the rewards for top employees are almost non-existent. - Pay is very low ($10.50 per hour) for the large responsibilities of the job. - When you ask for PTO (even far in advance), they don't approve it until the Friday before, so you cannot plan a vacation. - Top leadership from New York come to visit from time to time to talk to employees. but nothing changes.

Pros

They took me in with no professional IT experience and got me into the industry. Fielding calls overnight taught me a lot about networking issues with their Symantec Backup solution as those would fire and fail at 2 am each time zone. Working the day shift taught me Active Directory skills, installing print drivers, and malware removal, among other things on a much more consistent basis than I had ever been able to see myself. Work didn't follow me home, and overtime was available if I wanted it. The Tier 2 Reps I had to ask questions of taught me a lot about the things I didn't know off the top of my head, and helped tone my troubleshooting steps going forward.

Cons

Was lied to as to what I had actually been hired for. I had applied for, interviewed for, and been hired for a position working technical support for a laptop brand's products. When I showed up the first day at the job, and training had mentioned that side and role of the call center, then started talking about the Hotel Support side. And kept talking, and kept talking. We asked after lunch if we were missing something, and were informed that we had all been switched to Hotel Support. 6 out of the new hire class of 30 immediately quit. Metrics are a huge point of "How good of an employee you are.". This leads to gaming the system by taking any easy calls you got regardless of who was working on them, and skating the calls you didn't want to have to solve, trying to assign difficult cases to anyone else you could throw them at, and pestering other employees you knew could solve your problem. You have a Team Lead that may have never done your job or have no technical support experience, yet is trying to measure your performance on metrics alone. Getting told to get the caller off the phone because I'm violating a 15:00 minute metric for phone call length because they had 6 issues I had to create 6 tickets with and not just say "no" and hangup on them. Ton of middle managing and scolding over metrics. Was told "No pay raises, at all. Don't ask about them.". Holidays are NOT paid overtime, even though you have to work them if it falls on your schedule. Instead, you can spend your PTO to get "overtime", but only if you work the entire shift. This lead to a situation like me working on Christmas Day with the full amount of staff on a Saturday, with absolutely no calls coming in, and a team lead encouraging me to go home.
