The Most Toxic Environment I’ve Ever Worked In

Pros

- There are a handful of great people that work there. - The company does interesting and meaningful work.

Cons

- Benefits are overly expensive and subpar. - Communication is non-existent. - The company finds any and every reason not to give raises or promotions. - The company recently forced all employees to burn through their PTO (while employees still had to work to get their jobs done) under the explanation of “saving costs,” "avoiding layoffs," and “making the balance sheet look better.” This continued for over four months, causing a significant number of employees to end up with substantial negative leave balances. - There is an active and well-known culture of lying and throwing anyone and everyone under the bus in order to not make yourself look bad. - People that need to be held accountable are not and others are made to be scape goats. - The company operated under a culture of "everything is an emergency." That solicits over reactions and must be dealt with immediately, causing stress and constant errors and re-work. - The pace and making everything a competing priority, is completely unsustainable.

Pros

Very full order book, great staff

Cons

No one stays more than they absolutely have to. Toxic work environment, be prepared to be fired on the spot and to be publicly shamed.

Pros

- A few good and competent coworkers. - Flexible schedules for most positions. - As long as you don't complain, there is little oversight for most positions.

Cons

- Toxic, stressful environment full of lying, backstabbing, and illegal discrimination. - Lazy and incompetent management. - No goals for the business beyond "grow." - No communication or transparency. - Poor benefits to start with that will be cut without warning or justification. - Honesty and hard work are actively discouraged. - Lying to and misleading customers are actively encouraged.

Pros

This is a good company on paper. The pay is decent and the vacation time is good. This company may be good for anyone who is currently in-between jobs. But never stop applying for better opportunities elsewhere.

Cons

Toxic and hostile work environment. Upper management and engineering managers do not view their employees as professionals. Company policy mimics a grade schooler's rule book. There are core hours but it seems to do absolutely nothing. You have to abide by your schedule to a T. However, this does not apply to managers. If you arrive one minute past your scheduled arrival time, you are considered late. You will be written up for this because engineering managers track exempt salaried employees' arrival and departure times via camera clocks. From my experience, engineering managers modify employee’s time sheets so you better check your previous week’s time sheet on Mondays. All the other negative reviews are spot on, so I'll refrain from repeating what was already said.

Toxic Environment

Pros

The choices of benefits offered even though premiums increase considerably every year.

Cons

The work environment is toxic. Employees are treated as if in high school. Management monitors what time you arrive and leave work. As a salaried employee, even if you work extra hours in a week, if you need to take time off for a doctor's appointment you are required to take sick, personal or vacation time. If you are considered "a favorite", you receive better increases with lower increases for those who aren't so the favorites can exceed the required pay range for raises. The employees who receive the lease recognition are the ones who work the hardest . This is a small company, so there is very little room for promotion. There is no work/life balance because you are expected to work extra hours when they demand it or face being fired. The president of the company can't remember from one day to the next discussions and decisions made. His management style is that from the '70s and does not consider any progressive employment options. The president will have all hands meetings and everyone just discounts the drivel he spouts because over and over he has exaggerated the company's forecast.
