Pros

There are many great reasons to work for Con Edison. They offer great benefits such as vision and medical, and there is room to grow and move up in the company. There are so many different departments and jobs that you can apply for within the company. Its not just a job, working for con ed is a career.

Cons

To be honest there are none that come to mind. It is a great company to work for. I just wish there was an employee discount on our bills.

Pros

Opportunities to grow professionally. Good Compensations. Informal. Each section (electrical, steam, gas) is very different from the others. If you are a mechanical engineer avoid steam operations.

Cons

Very incompetent management. At many cases having a higher education is under-appreciated. There is no defined plan/project or program for Interns.

Pros

The pay is fair for the industry, but living costs are high in New York. If you like underground electric distribution, there's no where else in the world where you'll learn more. You get to help run the city and it's very satisfying after a hard days work.

Cons

Very structured and bureaucratically run. Sometimes, nepotism is rampant. The time requirments at the job can be very straining on your personal life, if you work in an operations department especially during certain periods of the year.
