firefighters needed

Pros

no outsourcing, friendly coworker, CEO and GM care but not shown, senior engineers are very helpful and knowledgeable, relaxed work environment and very easy interview

Cons

very-very political, badly written software gets rewarded by becoming "superhero firefighters" when software blows up in the field, promotion from outside, you will go places and in the smart "elite" group if you are young, loud and can do quick google search instead of showing proof of years of producing solid software.

Pros

company is small. you have things to do. colleagues are nice. the benefits are ok in atlanta area.

Cons

it is small so it relies heavily on a few major customers. The development plan always changes based on big customer's needs

Company struggles and moves in fits and starts

Pros

Steady job and mostly clueless top management allows engineers and mid-level staff survive without a struggle. The CTO is a lifer (been there 30 years) and retiring in a few more - so everyone knows not to expect anything from him. The Sales guys are just barely hanging on and so it's a good place to chill.

Cons

If you want a challenge - you don't want to be here. The management won't take risks - so you won't be learning the newest cool stuff.
