Not a great place

Pros

Peers have all been amazing

Cons

Pay is way below expectation, quotas are unrealistic, no compete clause is a big deterrent - wishing I had never signed it.

Pros

You can gain some working and industry experience

Cons

Connection tries to present themselves as a great place to work, tons of opportunity, etc., but it’s just not. Connection is a sinking ship, and it blows my mind they are still open for business. Here are a few highlights: 1. Pay is FAR below what you can make elsewhere…Some people do make a ton, but it takes years to get there and there are only a handful out of hundreds. 2. Diversity and Inclusion…The company is ran by middle aged white guys, all of them. They put all sorts of diversity and inclusion posts out there, but I dare someone to ask what percentage of their lead ship staff are women or minorities. 3. “Our average tenure is forever amount of years”… This is because you can’t leave. A non compete agreement is normally to protect companies from having their intellectual property or customers stolen, but not this one. This one is to make it impossible to work for anyone but them. It prohibits you from working for a tech company or any of their customers, and there are a lot of them! If you try to move on, you’re going to get sued. 4. Outdated everything…They don’t trust the majority of employees to work remote full time. The offices have cubicles from the 80s, and it’s just super depressing. They won’t invest in software systems the sales teams need and everyone just has to work harder because they won’t invest in anything: technology, people, infrastructure, anything! 5. Middle managers…there are a few exceptions to this, but keeping in mind people stay forever, when they get promoted it goes to their heads and turns into power trips and them practicing being boss by proving they have the most inspection and control set up. The true leaders are far and few. Overall, if you can’t find literally anything else in the world, go for it, but do 2 years, get your experience and run. Again, this is if you can’t find a single other thing out there. They’ve gotten away with it for so long by being one of the bigger employers in the area, but with remote work you can now work ANYWHERE else. I’ve been gone for a year now and still feel this strongly about how horrible they are as a company.
