Friendly work environment, good work/family balance (depending on manager), and decent benefits. Opportunities to achieve technical or sales certifications .

Cons

To support solution selling sales should have metrics that support that. OB dials should not be the main focus.

It’s our pleasure to provide an exceptional work environment, a multitude of educational and professional development programs, robust benefits offerings coupled with a schedule that affords an agreeable work-life balance. Establishing relevant objectives and performance standards are necessary for departments and the company to continue to grow and be profitable. Managers are empowered to establish clear goals that are realistic and achievable. Managers are also responsible for providing adequate training and arranging resources to meet those goals. In the sales organization, proactive outbound activity plays its part in the larger picture, but it is not the sole metric reviewed. As evident in the numerous awards for customer service, Connection effectively cultivated a sales organization that is responsive to the needs of its customers. Affording salespeople operational resources to concentrate on solution selling rather than administrative functions lends to consistent sales growth. In addition to affording operational resources to our sales organization, Connection continually evaluates its operational effectiveness and seeks better procedures in the interest of efficiency. Soon, you will see a new ERP which will aid in reducing the administrative work associated with processing an order. That tool will afford additional time for account managers to be engaged in sales activities related to developing effective solutions to address their customers’ needs. We appreciate your candor.

Pros

Stable company. Large distribution network. Access to nearly all vendors and manufacturer partners in IT space.

Cons

Incredibly slow to enact change. Very outdated sales systems and processes. Homegrown CRM system is woefully inefficient, and littered with bad data. Biggest factors in success of new reps is attrition and turnover, not hard work and effort. Six employees have quit in the last 6 weeks. Many HR liabilities throughout the office that go ignored. Avoid at all costs.

As a publically held, Fortune 1000 entity employing over 2,000 individuals, our balance sheet is strong and supports your “stable” assessment. Implementing an agile approach relative to change is not always feasible. We will state with certainty that our executives are invested in strategically positioning Connection to achieve future success. We are invested in making policy and procedural improvements that will benefit the organization as a whole. Working together, areas requiring improvement are identified, tactfully discussed and assessed for implementation. As an example, CRM enhancements occurred in 2017 and will continue to receive attention in 2018 and beyond. We will respectfully disagree with your assessment that hard work and effort do not contribute to success at Connection as an Account Manager. In today’s business climate, building a portfolio is not an easy feat. In addition to selling the competitive advantages that Connection brings to the table, successful account managers build relationships with their customers, develop effective solutions to address the customers’ needs and respond timely to changing customer demands. Successful account managers strive to enhance customer loyalty. In our book, that requires effort and diligence that will net results. We are committed to investing in a corporate culture committed to excellence. Our HR Business Partners exhibit integrity beyond reproach. They are always willing to lend support and provide guidance to employees seeking counsel. Pros

In my 6 months here, I've been provided with adequate training, learned a lot by doing and had opportunities to expand my duties to other departments. My goals involve growing with other departments and I've been allowed to and encouraged to branch out. Every indication has been given to me that if I work hard and apply myself that I'll have the opportunity to grow with the company, in roles that best meet my passion and skillset *and* benefit Connection. I work with a great team and the people I've met and occasionally collaborate with from other teams have been, for the most part, open, helpful, and accommodating. The work/life balance, benefits, and flexibility when it comes to appointments have been very satisfactory.

Cons

A higher 401(K) match would be nice. A revamp of the decor (no more 'cubeland") would be refreshing as well, but that can challenging with so many employees.
