Pros
Union jobs: one cannot just be laid off or fired
Cons
- Lowest pay of all surrounding counties - Extremely high cost of health care benefits; below standard benefits for employees, meaning especially the Contra Costa Health Plans (A and B; A is most cost-effective but 0 quality) are downright awful with usually residents instead of permanent doctors; nobody cares about your health in earnest; very hard to get referrals to specialists as these do not exist with CCHP Plan A - Horrible management; leadership non-existent; no leadership/management training provided; promotions not by skill or work ethic but favoritism - Management gets lots of perks, raises, promotions; regular employees do not - Very hard to impossible to get career opportunities - Very lengthy interview process; even more lengthy and discriminatory probation period for regular employees which is 9 months (by comparison: managers have only a 6 months probation period)
