Pros

No one gets fired/laid off. You can learn a lot if you are just coming out of college.

Cons

- Pay isn't up to industry standards and neither are the bonuses. - No career track, very flat organization. Seniority is more important than what you know. (Good ole boys club) - No clinical training or conference exposure/experiences. - Employee retention in R&D is atrocious. College students come in, get experience then leave every 2 years or less.

Pros

Zero pressure in this job. Can work your 8 hours and do not have to do anything more. Okay place to break into the Medical Device industry.

Cons

Terrible pay and benefits. The Cook Clinic where they make you go practices medicine like it is 1960 still. The cafeteria food and coffee at Park 48 is prison quality. Cook's management refuses to embrace change. In fact, if you suggest changing something that is probably the only way to get fired at this company. Tons of incompetent managers who knew Bill Cook back in the day so they get to stay around and do nothing.

Pros

If you don't want to work hard (or work much) Park 48 Marketing is for you. The gym is decent and the $25 Thanksgiving card is okay. 4% 401K match is good but pay is very very poor for medical device industry.

Cons

This company is stuck in the past. Cook Medical believes because they were successful in the past they will be in the future. Management provides no vision for the company to employee's, totally lacks a strategy, and hires based on who you know not what you know. The pay is the lowest in the medical device industry and the company also has one of the worst vacation schedules (PTO) (one day for Christmas, one day for thanksgiving, and one day for July 4...come on). No one in the company can tell you how to get promoted (not even your manager). You basically need to wait around and hope someone taps you on the shoulder and promotes you. The raises at Cook are horrible, maybe 2% if you work in Marketing, around 4% in Engineering. Raises are not based on what you contribute, they come down from "the top."
