Pros

Cook Systems is a good place to get a start in the IT career field. So far I have been able to network and team up with many other developers, work with several clients, and gain that much needed experience to succeed in the software development sector. The experience is by far the most valuable asset to gain from this company. The initial training period for the Fasttrackd program is unpaid, but it really does help out those with the ability to become great software developers who are having trouble getting a start in their career. The staff is pretty laid back and there is hardly ever any drama that arises. They are also very supportive, ranging from recovering from a major accident, losing your house in a fire, losing loved ones, to even girl scout cookies.

Cons

There does need to be more support available, but that's always true for anything. I don't know the internal workings of a business, but they could use more organization and transparency. Again, that's also always true for anything. Health insurance is a bit more expensive compared to plans provided by other employers.

Pros

The company takes care of its own as well as it can. The management structure (all the way up to the CEO) treats every employee as family. FastTrack'D graduates specifically get treated very well since the company regards them as more or less the life-blood of the company's future. Graduates have the benefit of receiving face-to-face performance reviews every 6 months, followed by promotions/raises if performance is good.

Cons

Insurance benefits are a little lacking, but that's to be expected of a home-grown company. Some internal processes are a little more free-flowing than they probably should be. FastTrack'D graduates start at a salary slightly lower than the average entry-level programmer.

Pros

I was attending night school for a degree in Computer Science and working construction 5 days a week. I knew nobody would want to hire a recent graduate who had absolutely 0 experience in the field. Cook Systems gave me that experience. i quit my construction job and put my trust in them. I went through a rigorous 8 week training program that really tested my abilities. In our training class, 16 people started, but only 4 of us completed it. That should give you some idea of how difficult and worth while the training is. After I completed the training, they used their resources and found me a job as a software developer with a reputable company. I've never been happier with my profession.

Cons

Now I have to attend a gym to keep my body from inflating due to a desk job
