It seemed the higher leadership was a little out of touch with the majority of employees and what they needed to achieve a reasonable work/life balance. In order to be on the companies health plan (which was astronomically expensive at the time, I sincerely hope it's better now) you had to do a biometric screening. I found this to be very invasive. They explain this by saying it's a way of showing concern for employee's health, however, the fact that your results had a direct affect on how much you paid in medical leads me to believe otherwise. I got my own private insurance instead, the cost/coverage was about the same. I just don't see why my employer needs to know what my cholesterol and BMI are. Overall, I felt supported by my co-workers and immediate managers, but beyond that I didn't feel supported by CorVel as a company at all. I was another peg filling a hole, a hamster running in the wheel, struggling to make ends meet at home as well as at work. Consequently, I was not as effective at my job as I could have. This, of course, has a negative affect on my clients, my managers and myself and can easily spiral out of control.
