Pros

I am an RN and I work per diem in the patients homes doing infusions. $33/hr including travel time $ paid mileage, except the 1st & last 20min & 15 miles. But the mileage you get paid for at tax time. I set my own appointments. I take as many vacations as I want. You can take as many or as few patients as you want.

Cons

No benefits but most per diem jobs don't have them. On call is required 1 weekend a month and I think 2-3 weekday evenings a month. I always take more because I rarely get called out. Weekend call is $75/day for F-S-S, weekday is $30 and $100 for holidays. Sometimes a lot of driving. My farthest patient is 2 hrs away but I get 4 hrs of pay just to drive there & back + the visit is a 4 hr IVIG. So that's an 8 hr day.
