An interesting product and great people

Pros

The product is very interesting and there are a lot of great people working hard every day. The company has made some recent deals (with Splash and AP) that should make it a lot more competitive going forward.

Cons

There seem to be a lot of shifts in strategy, organization and direction, although the market is changing rapidly so some of this is understandable. Given all the changes, I sometimes struggle to understand where the company is headed.

Cons

Company is in a state of flux as it is exiting from a retrenchment due to the recession and begins rapid expansion. Also, some office processes are antiquated.

Pros

Corbis has the mission of "empowering creativity," and truly its suite of products from photos, to videos, to iconic personalities are very inspiring. The employees are very talented and typically come from a top-tier creative or technology background. The company is rooted in an industry that has been significantly disrupted (stock photography), and that has led to a lot of positive, transformative change. It feels in many ways that the company is finally unleashig its potential and fulfilling the expectations that so many people have had of it over the years, given the Bill Gates ownership. For "entrepreneurs" who thrive on change and the opportunity that it creates, Corbis is a great place to develop your career.

Cons

The company is in a state of constant change, and sometimes it can be overwhelming for people who like stabile work environments. Additionally, while the company is on a great track, sometimes the challenges of overcoming its more traditional culture get in the way -- however, this is quickly changing for the better as the company gains focus and momentum from its new directions.
