Pros

gained laboratory experience for later jobs. learned some basics of cloning and molecular techniques and almost got to publish a paper although that depends on your lab

Cons

the hours are weird and it all depends on how much you want to work. you can work as much or as little as you want depending on how much you want done. i list this as a downside because i like to have a fixed predictable schedule so if i want to plan on something like a dinner reservation, i can count on it.

Pros

The university has a broad range of competencies. Professors and students form a vibrant intellectual community which spills over into Ithaca life.

Cons

The community (including the city of Ithaca) is relatively small. The opportunities to travel to a larger cultural center are geographically limited.

Pros

The research topics best fit my needs and interests, and the facility and coworkers are so positive in collaboration and discussion.

Cons

The geographical location is not favorable to commuters outside Ithaca. Also, the winter weather is not favorable to anyone from west coast.
