Pros

Cornell University provides an incredible resource for postdocs - there are so many bright, motivated people on campus, and there is an office for postdocs that is a great source of information, training and support in terms of career development.

Cons

Cornell University is a high intensity research university, and as such, many of the principal investigators that lead research groups here are workaholics. It often amplifies the difficulty in achieving a work-life balance.

Pros

great pay, excellent benefits and great atmosphere. I worked at the statler hotel as a bellman during my time in colllege and it was an excellent oppertunity to meet people. The managers are very receptive to your school schedule and understand your first priority is school. Overall it was a great experiance.

Cons

there is a minimun required number of day you have to work, two. Also you may have to work very early in the morning (at 5:45) or late at night (12:00). Also when the hotel is not busy it can get extremely boring.

Pros

The environment is very collaborative and supports communication between researchers and laboratories. This fosters both innovation and efficiency in research.

Cons

Central New York in general is extremely cold during the winters, where frequent snow and the lack of sunshine leads to a rather poor quality of life. Additionally, Cornell University is located in an area with little choice in types of food cuisines.
