Pros

The culture and atmosphere of CA is amazing to be around. It's hard to not feel inspired almost every day. Everyone here has a focus and really wants to help the government function better. There are a lot of perks benefit-wise and the company is accommodating to personal needs. You are given a lot of independence in terms of company projects and how or to what extent you want to be involved. Flexibility both on your part and the company's is a large factor.

Cons

Because of it's size it is unclear how to move up in the company (with regard to position and salary); it is very dependent on what is occurring within the structure of the company and what contracts are won. That being said, it is definitely easy to take on more responsibility without a position or salary change. Flexibility can also start to become a con when things seem to constantly be changing in company structure and operation. Consistency is not something to expect

Thank you for your feedback. Yes, moving up in the company HAS been confusing! Starting October 1, 2014, we implemented our first ever organizational structure to help our consultants see how they can move through our ranks. We are also working on being more clear and providing more guidance to our employees about the expectations for promotion and bonuses. We are continuing to evolve and improve and work towards getting better every day.

Excellent company leadership and mentoring opportunities. Many opportunities to learn different skill sets and program management methodologies. Fun, values-based culture. Transparency is a core value and it shows up every day. Deep expertise in subject matter and amazing clients.

Cons

Dynamic nature of young company results in strategic shifts, this can be frustrating or draining for some and exciting for others.

Pros

Over the last two years, Corner Alliance has gone from just a fun place to work to a fun place to work with more sophistication and focus. One of my favorite parts of working at Corner Alliance is the fact that I have this desk job and yet I get to be creative every day which is, I think, a rarity in the sector. Our leaders fully support approaches that are outside the norm, we don't tell people we are innovative or different, we try to show it (as much as a federal government consulting firm can). I think we are a community of self starters and am consistently impressed and surprised by our team members at every level and believe leadership is committed to presenting everyone with challenging opportunities. We are still small enough that it feels very personal and protected and I feel like we have put the structure in place to scale and maintain that feel as we grow.

Cons

Corner Alliance constantly changes - we try to have the values at our center and constant - but around the edges things change, often, and sometimes suddenly. It's part of growth but it does mean that our team members need to weather it which can be hard. I also think that sometimes people come in for the fun and culture and then are shocked by the structure, process, focus on utilization, and push for business development - the expectations are high, there is pressure, its a delicate balance and we are on the tight rope.
