Pros

Earn PTO immediately, decent but sporadic commission structure, good benefits, various opportunities within the company, lots of properties in the portfolio.

Cons

Managers typically are not good leaders. They say follow policy but some managers pick and choose which policies to follow. If this company ever did an audit of parcel pending videos, the whole management team in my district would be fired immediately.

Pros

Amazing people to work with very bright and talented.

Cons

The culture is a grind till you pass-out. No balance at all! It is a revolving door.

Ignore the fake 5 star reviews

Pros

Any of these 5-star reviews with generic pros and cons are fake. I got paid. You will be grateful that you left knowing how bad it can get -unless you are the former college frat star that this company is looking for.

Cons

I wish I could have put a mirror in front of almost every corporate office associate when I was there. Simple as that. Almost everyone who is tenured at Cortland is overly formal and plastic for no reason. I really don't know what secret cult is that is being worshipped amongst the "senior" associates but it was quite an eye-opening experience. They look to recruit for the high school social butterfly personality regardless of age... It is like walking on eggshells around many tenured associates. There is too much hostile gossip. Corporate associates would severely stick out like a sore thumb in almost any other environment. I have now worked for 3 different industries and have met with people from many walks of life since being at Cortland. This was the most toxic place I have ever worked for AND it was for no reason because the work was not demanding or complex AT ALL. They are all talk. That is the work that gets done. Fitting in a high school clique when you are 40 years old. I don't get it. No transferable skills from being here other than taking slack and learning how to build stamina when dealing with crazy people.

Hello, We are very disappointed to hear that you had this impression while working at Cortland. We strive to create a welcoming environment for associates from a diverse background of experiences. Our core values act as our guiding principles in everything we do and one of those is to “Grow Toget her and Play Together as a Team.” This means true collaboration between departments and individuals from all levels of the organization free or judgement as we know great ideas can come from anywhere. All this being said, your experience does not line up with what we aim for as a company and we would greatly appreciate an opportunity to turn this around. At your convenience, could you please reach out to us at talentresources@cortland.com? We look forward to assisting you. -Ashley G., Vice President of Talent Acquisition
