Pros

Product knowledge and samples on occasion, the stores aren’t open super late so you aren’t at work all night. Meeting other stylists can help you network if you’re another stylist employed there. In my store, I had a great staff. That kept me there for the most part. Good if you’re in school! It’s a nice stepping stone.

Cons

VERY uncompetitive wages and even less room for growth. If you’re a licensed stylist, they want you, but do not want to pay for it. At the same time, they SHOULD have people in the industry working there, since it caters to licensed pros. Another thing that bothered many employees was a lack of other employees, especially in smaller stores. If you get sick or have an emergency, there is no one to replace you. And god forbid you want to take time off. Not possible.

Pros

The customers are the best! Product samples & discounts help also

Cons

You will work alone on saturdays. You can’t ask questions without management retaliation. You will be told a certain schedule & they will end up giving you whatever they want anyway. (10+ extra hrs a week) Management writes the schedule 6-8 weeks in advance.
