Not worth the trouble

Pros

Product knowledge and samples on occasion, the stores aren’t open super late so you aren’t at work all night. Meeting other stylists can help you network if you’re another stylist employed there. In my store, I had a great staff. That kept me there for the most part. Good if you’re in school! It’s a nice stepping stone.

Cons

VERY uncompetitive wages and even less room for growth. If you’re a licensed stylist, they want you, but do not want to pay for it. At the same time, they SHOULD have people in the industry working there, since it caters to licensed pros. Another thing that bothered many employees was a lack of other employees, especially in smaller stores. If you get sick or have an emergency, there is no one to replace you. And god forbid you want to take time off. Not possible.

Pros

They carry professional products, education, samples, point system

Cons

They sell to anyone, professional or not. They refuse to purchase new equipment such as computers and credit card machines, stores are always hiring because they pay minimum wage and highly qualifying people like myself will not work for such little money again. Managers and employees are uneducated in the field, stores are often messy and unorganized. The list goes on!

Cons

Just hard working with some people who are not passionate about customer service when you are in a business that strives on making the customer happy. Stop hiring people who shouldn’t be in customer service. Allow more hours so stores are fully staffed.
