Pros

Most holidays off Free products Learn about the industry Make friends with coworkers Limited business hours

Cons

Constantly have you doing menial tasks Moving entire product lines across the store just to move them back again, which by the way gets us yelled at by customers Half the staff slacks off and the other half works themselves dry The raises are pennies, pay your good staff like you care if they actually stay or can afford to live

Cons

- district manager had no responsibility - manager offered little encouragement - went through visible minority employees quickly - did not care about scheduling conflicts - favouritism with employees - didn't care if you were a hard worker, took advantage of you if you were - very minimal wage increases after a year of work

Pros

I worked with some really great people. Majority of customers were great which made it enjoyable to go in every day. Free samples of certain products which made it awesome to give accurate and in-depth recommendations to stylists and owners based on their needs and expectations for clientele. Point system in based of the sales of specific products which you could then redeem for "free" items, note the " " because you still have to pay taxes on any item that you redeemed with your points.

Cons

High turn-over rate based on lack of wages. Store Managers do not have any repercussions in regards to lacking in their performance, or accountability to the staff they oversee. I personally thought the dress code was a little restrictive at times for an industry based on free expression, but that's just me. I also thought they should loosen up to wear jeans on the weekends just to make it more enjoyable for the employees that get roped in to that unpleasant schedule. But again, not a deal breaker. **Personally my only major grievance was that my store manager wrote me up for not attending work the morning after my grandmother had passed away that night. All for the sole reason that they then had to work my schedule and not have that weekend off. That personally struck a wrong cord with me as I had sat with my grandmother and first-hand experienced her passing which has been one of the most tragic events that has happened in my life. The manager's reaction was extremely insensitive in my opinion. I took it upon myself to look for employment elsewhere as a result of this sole incident. And this is another very personal con but I think there should be more bereavement days.
