I hope I have enough room. The pay is horrible. They hire in managers for pennies. When it comes review/raise time they give you PENNIES! Once you get up there in pay (after 10 years) you'll find the raises get lower. They hire store staff at even less than what is normal for the area. The last 6 people I hired for this company was hired at MINIMUM WAGE then they wonder why employees leave after a few months. They won't tell you during the interview, but you WILL work alone on on a regular basis because of the work load and low pay. They care very little about a work/life balance especially when you're a manager. You'll even be asked to work at other stores in the area when they lose people for the same reasons I've mentioned above.
Most corporate officers do not have any beauty industry experience, so they try to move the business into a more "retail" direction. Their tag line is "partner to the professional", but they don't think twice about using their limited purchasing budget on stupid dollar store garbage. They require so many weekly tasks at a time that it is near impossible to complete with the minimal staff you are allowed to hire. As a customer, if you want to do something that is against the rules, all you have to do is call customer service and corporate will tell the employees to do it for you. even if you tell other customers no.
If you do chose to work here, the best advice I can give you if DO NOT GET HURT ON THE JOB. The workers comp/benefits company they utilize are horrible even when you go out on an ordinary Leave Of Absence. They will do everything in their power to delay your money even if you ask for the LOA well in advance of the event including for pregnancy!
The HR/Payroll Department are totally incompetent. I don't want to get into specifics for my situation, but let me just say several people in that department TOTALLY messed up!
They are always out of stock of products. They used to blame it on the pandemic, but we are well past that situation. This causes grief from customers on a daily basis. I worked in the industry for over 30 years, so I know a lot of the customers are getting very frustrated with the company up to and including finding their products elsewhere or changing their product lines completely to ones sold at other distributors.
I was with the company for 10 years. Several times during my tenure I was asked by my direct boss to apply for promotions because they thought I would be well qualified. Every time those applications were turned down, and the higher ups didn't even have to courtesy to tell me themselves. I would find out from the person who got the position that didn't even apply for it!
As I said in the pros, I loved working at Cosmoprof when they left my store, my staff and me alone to enjoy servicing our customers. Most new upper management doesn't know how the industry works or about their own customers.
