Cons

The incompetent people remain in positions because it's too difficult to get rid of bad employees. Improvements to policy and procedure are unheard of due to the "that's not how we've done it" mentality.

Your schedule is set and you have every other Friday off if you are full time employee. You do not have to take your work home, so there is a great work/family life balance.

Cons

The salaries are not competitive with the private sector. You are always at risk when you are a government employee.
