Pros

Pay,benefits,Well diversified work force, room for growth, and reasonable starting wages. Retirement plans range from excellent to good depending on classification.

Cons

Inept managers, waste of resources and assets, small voice on complaints.Does not always walk the talk, and horrible in staying with court rulings, to the point of defying them, and getting the reputation for being that type of county, with bad top HR people.

Pros

Excellent benefit/compensation structure for members of management. Compressed workweek 9/80s apply to most positions, job security is better than private sector, though not always. Pension system is still beyond compare and likely to be around for many-years-off retirees.

Cons

Technical advances are much slower. It's 2008 and telecommuting is not looked upon favorably. Entry level jobs can be hard to advance from without education.
