Pros

Covista has a strong, authentic focus on its students and their success. There’s a shared sense of purpose in helping learners achieve meaningful educational and career outcomes, which makes the work feel impactful. The environment is highly collaborative—teams genuinely support one another, and there’s an openness to sharing ideas and solving problems together. Additionally, the organization promotes a healthy work-life balance, which allows employees to stay productive while maintaining personal well-being.

Cons

The in-office requirement of four days per week may be a drawback for some. That said, I personally find value in the face-to-face collaboration and camaraderie it creates, which helps strengthen team relationships and drive better outcomes.

Pros

great benefits - health insurance, 6% 401k match, unlimited PTO (may have changed this recently) excellent people - worked with several colleagues both in my department and adjacent.

Cons

abysmal leadership at the very top levels (major disconnect): decisions from the highest up at the company are made to cut costs in the short-term (batches of surprise layoffs) without considering value of the ones laid off. This not only happened to me but several others I know that were high-value contributors. They also spanned across business hierarchy (VPs, Directors, Specialists, etc.). To me this is a robotic procedure that aims to solely benefit shareholder value. "Solely" is the key word - the way it is being done is too tunnel vision and is not considering the longterm impact. the company also shifts the roles of current employees across the 5 institutions with little or no notice. I've experienced this, but also several colleagues. The roles are mostly the same, but each school is unique and has different ways of working internally. This can also be a positive as you learn more, but the learning curve takes time and it can be chaotic at first due to little/no notice time. Compensation & promotion opportunities: Starting compensation is great, but that's about it unless you get promoted. Promotion frequency varies among departments and depends on how each school performs

Pros

Good people who really care about the students and the work they are doing. Agile company willing to listen. Good swag.

Cons

Got absolutely blindsided with layoff despite doing good work in an institution that wasn't underperforming. Guess that's just corporate America in 2026. Pay is just ok, and benefits are kind of bad.
