Pros

Being able to work remotely, that’s pretty much the one and only ‘pro’ to this job.

Cons

EVERYTHING else you could imagine is a CON. Be ready to be verbally abused by customers 5 days a week, and back to back calls that never stop! If you’re thinking about taking a personal break because you need to pee or you need water from being stuck on the phone all day, don’t! Because you risk getting an “occurrence” which is like a slap on the wrist. Don’t get more than 5 slaps on the wrist otherwise they frown upon that— even if you have met your selling “goal”. They want you chained to the phone at all times, because every second you’re not available to force things on a customer to spend extra money on, it means less money for steak, lobster, and fine wine for the ones constantly breathing down your neck! And get ready to be bombarded with messages and emails from 20 different managers hounding you to sell more hbo or fancy internet packages when 90% of the customers who call are either upset or angry because their bill is way too high or we added $120 in fees without advanced notice… the list goes on and on and on… So RUN. Run as FAR AWAY as you can from this dreadful place if you’re considering a job as a customer care agent with Cox!

Pros

They paint a nice picture of Cox as a company - they are great at providing excellent internet and cable to customers. People who stay in other roles do grow into many possibilities. They have decent awards that they have to give their retention team in order to keep anyone on this role. Many of the hourly employees are super nice and hard-working people.

Cons

The job is unsustainable - as clearly indicated by the ridiculously high attrition. You get all your PTO and sick days in one pot, which seems generous until you realize that you end up using your 2 days accrued each month just to survive the brutal work days, so when you need an actual vacation or sick leave, you don't have any days available to use. The team gets penalized for deceased customer accts and MOAs, and the hourly rate is so low, if you don't make your little bit of commission once a month, it's like you're working for nothing. Also, they don't place people in roles they're suited for - they just want ppl to fill the constant vacancies in attrition. Horrible and unhealthy role.
