Pros

This is a good place to work at. I was a back-up cook for 6 years and may not have loved every minute of it. However, I did enjoy the independence and recognition i received for a job well done. Especially on those busy weekdays working alone back there. It takes a special breed and a love of cooking to excel at this restaurant.

Cons

The biggest con of working at any restaurant is having to work pretty much all holidays and weekends. Sometimes a good three day break can be arranged but other than your paid vacations you live there 40+hrs a week. Also, the management team likes to cut hours a lot and leave the other cooks with a mountain of work and tickets. So be aware of busy times with only yourself to rely on.

Pros

The managers are held accountable for their actions. This alone is what has separated my experience at Cracker Barrel from every other restaurant. The benefits are fair, the pay raises are regular and expected (but EARNED), the management truly is concerned with the success of the employees.

Cons

The pay at CBRL is not on par with other restaurants in the area, at least for line cooks. It's a restaurant job, so it's not going to be a steady 40-hour week unless you're really good at what you do.

Pros

Unlike other restaraunts, you can actually get raises after your par (Including evals). Managament cares about employees so they are always considering innovated ways to improve turn around for tables.

Cons

It is a restaurant job, so it's typically part time. If you need a full time job, this isn't the place for you unless you are in managment or you are working in corporate.
