Pros

There are some very nice, intelligent people who have been there for years, and they're great to work with and learn from. Marquee publications for the industries they cover.

Cons

Management at the pub I worked for was very insular and tight-lipped; if someone quit, there would be no announcement until their very last day -- not sure of the logic behind that, making departures seem like shameful secrets. Clear favoritism not necessarily based on quality of work. Technology is woefully out of date, and not by a few years -- decades. Sales side meddles too much with editorial.

After hours support was minimal. Office location is good. Some of my co-workers taught me a lot - it was a great place to learn new things.

Cons

Compensation was below average, and there was a lot of cronyism. I remember they had a network administrator in Detroit who was utterly clueless - obviously promoted to that position for non-skill reasons.
