Business Outlook
Pros
Talented people are often allowed to rise within the organization. The company allows movement from one division to another; increasing advancement opportunities. Manufacturing in the US at some of the divisions for engineered products. Transition from a holding company to more hands-on management continues.
Cons
Crane is decades past its peak in the fluid handling field, as are most of its competitors. So the cons are associated with the market as much as with the company. Manufacture of commodity items is all overseas and Crane no longer has much control of quality or design. As a result, there is little to differentiate their product, and quality is variable. Growth of the market is not a realistic expectation.
