There are far better opportunities in the insurance industry. Excessive unpaid overtime is normalised, workloads are unrealistic and processes are overly complex. New requirements are constantly added, but little is done to make adjusters’ jobs easier.
Employees are regularly told that “this isn’t a nine-to-five job” despite contracted working hours being exactly that. Long hours are treated as an expectation rather than an exception, yet management seems surprised by the high levels of burnout and staff turnover that result.
Senior management feels distant and disconnected from day-to-day realities, with a top-down culture that often passes pressure and blame down the chain. There is very little positive workplace culture and it can be quite a lonely place to work. Office attendance offers little benefit, with an environment that often feels hierarchical and focused on status rather than collaboration.
Pay rises are minimal and fail to keep pace with market rates, leaving many employees worse off over time. There are some genuinely good people but they’re often complacent with the way things are. Support for wellbeing, neurodiversity, and work-life balance feels like an afterthought.
If you have little ones or value your wellbeing, there are better employers out there.
