Pros

1. Flexibility in work location. I started working 2-3 days a week at home in my second month here. The only reason I come into the office is to get to know my colleagues. 2. The people in this firm care about getting you in front of the right people to advance your career. 3. As a staff employee you start off with 4 weeks of PTO. 4. Dress code - If you are meeting with a client - the dress code is generally business casual or professional depending on the client. However, if you're in the office and not meeting with a client - jeans are more than acceptable. No t-shirts, tennis shoes, or holes in jeans - but otherwise you can wear what you want.

Cons

Unlike the big 4 you don't get a big celebration trip when you sign your offer letter. The swag is also a let down - it starts off as a good idea - a water bottle, a bag...etc. but they don't pick the nicest option, more like the option that saved them a few bucks. Some friends in other firms as new hires received thank you swag like a google home and other gadgets - not work related, not firm related. However, I will say that at the end of the day, a trip and good swag as a new hire is not worth giving up the other benefits - like the people that really focus on helping you advance your career and the policies for where to work and what to wear.

Pros

After the Big 4 firms, Crowe Horwath is one of the biggest accounting and professional service firms in the United States and across the world with its affiliate network. As a result, the infrastructure and support is fairly strong, training is extensive and the pay is, by and large, better (the Big 4, after all, expect you to work for less in exchange for the "glamour" associated with working for them). The firm really works hard to invest a lot in its people and continues to grow aggressively, while knowing full well it will never be near the size of a Big 4 firm. They work you pretty hard here but don't expect you to live in breathe the place, the work/life balance is well respected most of the time (unless it gets insanely busy as it sometimes does). Depending on your job and workload, they are generally pretty flexible about working remotely and taking time off. But you definitely have to do more than just show up for work and do what is assigned to you - there is little chance of advancement if you don't take the initiative to do that "extra" thing - write articles for the website and outside publications, teach a training class or seminar, etc. This is all encouraged as part of your employee development. The firm is also fairly generous with taking outside training & conferences - approval is practically automatic if it's local, and not terribly difficult to get if it's out of town (of course, like any firm, there are limits on doing training that would incur travel expenses).

Cons

Some offices have a tendency to "hoard" work and not share it with other offices no matter how busy they are, because each employee and office are judged on the amount of billable hours they have every month. Some people are trolling the offices in search of billable hours while others are overwhelmed. This can pit offices against each other. Also, while the IT department is very good at what they do, they have to be because the laptops run into a lot of technical issues, which can slow down your workflow.

Pros

This place really cares about their people. Great benefits, caring people. Projects are interesting and you are allowed to work to your full potential. Hiring process was excellent, as was orientation.

Cons

Not really a con, but you need to be able to multi-task.
