Needs Work With Management

Pros

The company is very lenient and flexible when it comes to your work schedule. If you would like to work from home during times of need, it most likely will be granted. The benefits are decent and they promote self growth.

Cons

The lower management are not imbedded into knowing their employees nor do they care to. They are imposters. Literally, wolves in sheep clothing. They talk about growth all the time but do not allow movement upwards. They bring in competitors employees and promote them to higher positions. It’s disappointing because majority people have been in the same position for over 10 years and have not had the chance to move upwards. The company is a very relaxed company to work for and the work is simple, but the management causes you to want to leave or move over to other departments hoping it’ll be different. They never hold people accountable for their actions and allow people who don’t care or understand how to do their job to stay or be promoted. However, people who have excelled are forced to stay in their same position for years. It is true what they say it’s about who you know not what you know. This company is the true definition of that. Training is a joke because there is none. They throw you into a position and don’t give direction. The companies structure really needs to be revamped.

Pros

For the most part, you get to work with smart, generally amiable people - this was an enjoyable part of the company and something you will hear often, the Culture. Leaning in to a transparent framework when it comes to re-orgs & big changes so the employees feel their input is heard.

Cons

If you are at a lower-level status, your enthusiasm to succeed and find a place within the company is quickly met with false promises and deflection. There is no line drawn for the demanding workload or expectations as a contractor (such as training formal employees), but once you seek answers or feedback upper management will quickly remind you of your place. There is less of a focus on the work being produced as a top performer, rather your final outcome of advancement is more of a crapshoot of timing and what department you are in. There is proven record of even the most deserving of contracted employees being terminated while the "lucky ones" get to move forward in the employment process. It is well versed by the veteran employees that this is a sad, unreasonable trend that has risen over recent years. Another problem at Crown Castle is that how well you do is more of a matter of perception than the actual work you produce. Even if you're often identified as a good performer -- if you aren't vocal and toot your own horn to management, you are unlikely to advance quickly. You have to be your own advocate, which can be true in most work environments, but for the people who are more interested in focusing on the actual work and demonstrating their value that way, there isn't time partiality. Standards aren't uniformly enforced either. In fact, you will likely spend much of your time learning the daily work and systems on your own. Whether your team is helpful and/or encouraging is a big component of how well you do rather than the company providing the necessary tools and resources to succeed. Unfortunately it sounds like this will be a common factor during your entire time at Crown Castle, as there are so many changes and reorgs that regularly occur.

Pros

Crown Castle has excellent medical/dental/vision benefits

Cons

The company's bottom line is $$$; not it's people. Executive team is out of touch with much of their employee base Strategies, B3 values, Smart & Fast are a joke Management is inconsistent from dept to dept, location to location For such a large and widespread company, available positions only show up in a few places Despite being a tele communications company, working from home is not encouraged or consistently allowed

Thank you for your feedback. Our aim is to provide a suite of great benefits, and we’re glad you feel they work well for your needs. Our Executive Management Team spend a lot of time talking with, and more importantly, listening to, people across our business. In the last week alone, two of our senior team have posted articles on our intranet about being out and about in different offices. I’m sorry that you feel dissatisfied with our strategy, values and Smart & Fast mindset. They are hugely important to us and help align us all to achieve common goals – both what we deliver and how we deliver it. Regarding work from home, while we do help enable telecommunications, we’re a ‘people company’, and we believe that we're stronger as a business when people are together and can collaborate in person. This is why full-time working from home is not something we offer across our business. We do try to offer as much flexibility as possible. I’m more than happy to continue the discussion on these subjects – you can find my email and phone number by searching my job title on our intranet. Or, there are plenty of other ways to continue to share your feedback, such as on our intranet and in our regular Company Conversations.
