Not good work - life balance

Pros

The mission is important and most of the people are really wonderful

Cons

It's not a very professional atmosphere among co-workers. There seems to be very little personal boundaries and our team lead was not held accountable and did not take his trainings seriously. He had no idea what he was doing or how to lead and looked to his interns for answers. There was very little structure on our team and there were many times we were expected to work overtime without additional pay.

Pros

Family oriented, remote opportunities. Good size budget for projects. Nice coworkers.

Cons

Compensation is not even close to competitive. This organization makes several millions of dollars a year but pays employees 60% of market value. The more technically skilled you are, the less likely you are to be paid even remotely close to a normal salary. This leads to trouble retaining employees - which only puts further strain on the remaining employees.

Pros

Some of the people you meet are absolute gold. You also get the chance to bring my Christ into the lives of university students, do life with them and love them through what are often extremely turbulent years.

Cons

Cru has some very toxic leadership. They have a culture of silencing putting those who speak out against I’ll health in the organization. I also witnessed them give unreachable performance goals to people experiencing quite serious mental health episodes, then using their failure as ground for firing them. They have failed to address huge demands for mental health among staff. It’s disappointing.

I'm sorry for your experience. We are working actively to address mental health challenges and deal with them and with people in ways that care for people. We'll continue to work on these things.
