Pros

The people are very smart. We do proofs for fun and hold employee organized talks about things like the topology of quaternions. The problems are interesting and unsolved. You will have the opportunity to advance the field of autonomous vehicles. Well thought out process and infrastructure for same-day testing of new code on actual live vehicles in San Francisco. Manufacturing and financial support from our parent company GM. Good work is recognized and very well compensated.

Cons

High time pressures sometimes force us to commit to a particular algorithm when a strictly better one may be hiding somewhere around the corner. Sometimes the technical challenges that need to be solved can seem overwhelming

Pros

If you are smart you can advance. The culture is very happy, helpful, and hardworking. There is stiff competition in this market but the people you work with know they are going to win and don't hold back in setting and achieving goals. You get to help create the future. You work with geniuses. Changes to improve processes or structure are quickly created and deployed.

Cons

Third party There are layers that can cause resentment People may end up just viewing it as a job, making it that much harder to win. Communication has been slow yet is always getting better
