Great Place To Work

Pros

I have been at Cubex for a few years now and I have had a great experience so far. I work with a great team that encourages my participation and feedback. We solve complex inventory management and procurement challenges for veterinary and medical offices. I've gotten to be a part of something that has never been done before in the industries that we serve. Aslo, Cubex promotes from within. Management does a good job at first looking at its current employees for advancing into new roles. The company has been growing at a fast pace and is the industry leader in its markets. There doesn't seem to be any slowing down with new innovative products being released soon. The environment is also pretty laid back. A lot of people bring their pets to work, dress casual and have fun. Overall, its a great place to work.

Cons

Cubex is located in Phoenix. The summers get pretty hot. Bring shorts.

Short Sighted

Pros

Definitely an opportunity to grow your skill set with options to take on more responsibility and boost your resume. It is a bit of a wild west show, so the lack of direction and high turn over allows individuals to take on projects that quickly advance knowledge and skill sets. The office environment is modern and clean. They allow pets at work which is nice and helps to boost moral on harder days. Could be a great stepping stone for your career as long as you don't fall into the trap of staying too long.

Cons

The company overall suffers from a lack of follow through in almost all departments. Short sighted thinking prevails at all levels along with a very cliquish executive team. Much of the short sightedness creates crisis situations that suddenly require a flurry of stress and fear of job loss on lower levels. Management then creates new strategies and processes but when results aren't met immediately they change direction. Thus no solution is reached and the process begins again. The change in direction is such a constant thing that most employees who have been there for over a year ignore new initiatives and lack any buy in when new strategies are announced. The malaise is apparent as new employees come in excited but soon learn not to get their hopes up by more tenured members of the team. Cheap solutions that are short term fixes abound. It feels a little like a ship that is being tossed around on the waves in danger of capsizing... at times all the members begin to row together only to be thwarted by new initiative or a crisis and once again left paddling against each other. The culture is a bit forced on employees who feel pressured to participate in surveys about "best places to work". Company outings also feel forced/mandatory which is a little weird.

Pros

Decent benefits, good work-life balance, plenty of opportunity for growth. Some fun team activities, and overall couldn't complain about the group I worked with. I felt like our CEO was involved and like all levels of management listened to their employees needs and concerns.

Cons

When I was there, there was some lack of established procedure. This might be a problem for anyone who isn't able to pick things up quickly or isn't very organized themselves. There was also some lack of accountability when it came to completing assigned responsibilities and in level of professionalism, but this was the exception and not the rule.
