Great culture, helpful staff. Bigger business with a small business heart.

Cons

The SJ HQ is in a gnarly side of town, but the parking lot is gates and safe.

Company culture is an important asset to us at CEI, and we love to hear that our employees are happy and excited to do their best work. Since our founding in 1954, we have grown to serve sophisticated customers in a variety of industries. Despite our evolution and geographic reach, we are still guided by a few steadfast values: integrity, excellence, innovation, people and safety... Safety comes first! The San Jose headquarters office has a well-lit, gated parking lot with security staff and entry doors that require badge access. We continue to make safety improvements on campus to ensure we create a great environment for employees. Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback!

It’s wonderful to have valued feedback from a long-time employee, and to hear that you enjoy working for Cupertino Electric. I’m sorry you’ve experienced some discomfort with our rapid growth. We are continually working on documentation of our existing processes and have gotten to a point where many of these tools area available to employees online in detail. Thank you for your suggestions - we will keep them in mind as we continue to grow.

Pros

Company size and investment in technology is progressive compared to others in this space. Company communication seems to be decent, as large as the company is. They use a system called LiveWire where employees can get company updates, find fellows within the org, and find forms for HR, healthcare, etc. They seem to get a lot of work, though I don't know why.

Cons

Management is fragmented and constantly trying to keep their teams put together. The best employees leave and go FTE with a client or go to other shops. There seems to be a higher revolving door similar to what was seen at Sasco. I wanted to believe I was working for an elite contractor, but I kept finding myself disappointed in the management's decisions and course of actions. When I called attention to it, I was fired. I am not bitter, Cupe lost one of the best and brightest and they will never get me back.
