Pros

R&D is challenging and requires sharp analytical mind. However, there will be something new to learn everyday.

Cons

The benchwork generally is physically and mentally demanding. Expectations from managers are high. Personal growth and career progression are limited. Work-life balance can be achieved if one plans his experiments well.
