Pros

For the Aerospace Manufacturing Engineer, CW's Emergent Operations group, located in Shelby, NC, offers exciting work, well-maintained state of the art equipment and daily technical challenges. Quick-response, high-mix low-volume machining and full processing of aerospace components keeps a very interesting workload. Peers within the group are affable co-workers. Pay is competitive, but beware of "bait and switch" tactics by HR with regards to relocation promised and sign-on bonuses.

Cons

Being a business unit less than 4 years operational, it has had its challenges formulating smooth operational best practices. Directorship and management within the EO Group have been with the business unit since inception, are favored son's of executive management, and have plagued the progress from day one. Stats do not lie...5 of 6 Manufacturing Engineers have left the organization since the beginning of 2015. Since the onset of the group, an approximate 300% turn-over rate has maintained. The single constant variable is (poor) management. One last warning..the corporate Ethics Hot Line is a tool to get you fired as quick as possible...BEWARE..!!

Pros

It use to be about being right and making the customer happy. A lot of skilled employees. In certain areas, you are figuring out the problems and aiding customers.

Cons

Management is purely reactionary, organization is run by accountants that dont understand business unit function. Skilled employees are worked 7 days a week, lazy and unqualified employees skate by.

Pros

You certainly gain plenty of experience as an engineer, working on several projects at once. The core group of engineers who have stuck around long-term are mostly a very nice and intelligent group.

Cons

Everything is managed like a start-up. Pay is not competitive. Performance reviews are harsh across the board, seemingly to keep salaries down. The volume of work and level of pressure are unsustainable for most people.
