A Once-Promising Startup in a Downward Spiral

Pros

Some incredibly smart and hardworking people still here, but many are leaving. The company’s mission in data security is important and relevant. If you’re looking for chaos and change, you’ll find plenty of it.

Cons

The company missed its targets by a wide margin last year, resulting in unpaid bonuses and low morale. High executive and employee turnover has led to constant strategy shifts and a lack of direction, driving top talent away. The product has serious quality issues, and underinvestment in engineering and customer success has left customers frustrated and customer facing employees stressed. A security incident at the end of last year further damaged trust. With no clear turnaround plan, employees are increasingly looking for better opportunities.

Run-Extremely Toxic Culture

Pros

The product has potential but any upside is clouded by financial mismanagement and a tyrant at the helm.

Cons

If you'd like to find a place to spend your working hours that will mentally and emotionally break you, look no further. It's often repeated that the tone of culture is set at the top, and the CEO is completely ill-equipped to be a leader. Never have I ever encountered an organization that is run by fear in this way, and I hope I never do again. The CEO has no problems verbally berating individuals in group settings, both virtually and in person, shows zero empathy or emotional intelligence. People are hired to fill seats, not actually be proactive in terms of contributing with ideas or input. It's Howard's way or the highway, and if you dissent, you can brush off your resume. It's not worth your health to even consider working here.

We know people have different experiences in any organization, and we appreciate you taking the time to share yours. While your feedback doesn’t reflect the experience of the broader team, it’s important for us to hear and consider different perspectives. We’re focused on building a high-performing culture grounded in respect, transparency, and accountability across all levels of the organization. Leadership plays a critical role in that, and we’re continuously evaluating how we communicate, support our people, and evolve as we grow. We appreciate your candid input and your contributions during your time here, and we wish you the best in your next chapter.

Too broken

Pros

Talented contributors here however many are leaving and many whose potential is squandered by ineffective leadership

Cons

Turnover and revolving door (eg product leaders) and feeling of hopelessness throughout some parts of the org. CEO has little empathy and emotional control. Defensive/skeptical, not really a leader more of a marketer. It's pointless to speak up... Expect some lashing out or deflection from higher ups. I've been at companies where Sales team is frustrated that product isn't selling. Ok it happens... But there are deeper culture issues and toxicity here. The product is broken in many ways and needs a ton of work. It really doesn't help that we recently had a phishing breach. As a result the frontline folks can suffer not just internally but also with customers and prospects. Its honestly been draining. I think folks will continue to leave. My guess is that leadership continues to downplay the problems.
