A company to grow with

Pros

No slow interviewing process here, interviews are not easy but they move quickly. Leadership is approachable and transparent and in general the managers/practice leads are responsive and generous with their time. The potential for growth can be high, I've seen folks get promoted multiple times in a year. Employees are incentivized and the upside can be huge if you're a high performer

Cons

The fast pace can be somewhat disorientating if you are used to more methodical environments Being fully remote means that it's harder to connect with coworkers outside of the everyday work, which means that the culture takes a hit, and more effort needs to be made to feel connected with the team/company. This is improving and there are programs in place so that folks can connect via virtual coffee etc. and overall the perks of working from home far outweigh the negative.

Hopefully you see this before you accept a job at Cyclotron

Pros

Better reputation in the Microsoft partner ecosystem than it deserves.

Cons

CEO runs the company based on his gut with changing priorities every 3 days. No other in leadership get to make any decisions. Worst case of micro-management you can imagine. Lots of shiny slide decks with nothing backing it up. Culture of "fake it until you make it" runs deep. Smart people get hired, stays for 1 month until they see the circus, then get a better job. There's a reason for constant job openings on LinkedIn.

Pros

Remote work is the norm at Cyclotron, providing flexibility in schedule and work style

Cons

The executive and management structure is highly ineffective. Inexperienced 'managers' known as practice leads are responsible for making siloed decisions about how to run the organization, and the result is usually a practice-centric approach while ignoring company and brand approach as a whole. The practice leads are aligned to specific technologies which creates barriers to cross-practice collaboration, disincentives working effectively as a unified company, and creates unnecessary overlap and redundancy. The practice approach to the company structure makes the delivery and presales efforts from each practice inconsistent and they often lack a sense quality. The company leader has an erratic approach to engaging with the team and managers, and has a tendency to make bold, unfounded claims about trends, strategy, and effectiveness of sales efforts. They rely extensively on their background working at Microsoft as the primary tool for promoting the business and generating opportunities. The organization relies heavily on utilizing Microsoft funding vehicles and often use funding as the primary value prop to potential customers instead of highlighting quality and trust of the company. Claims are frequently made about how the company is able to join 'exclusive' access to partner programs which are simply not true, as plenty of other partner organizations have access to the same 'exclusive' programs. Cyclotron has very little internal demand generation capabilities and relies almost entirely on sourcing leads from Microsoft. There is no cohesive strategy or values alignment to the organization structure and market approach. There is a heavy pressure to leverage offshore resources whom are ineffective at providing consistent, quality work product, or communicating effectively. Another C-level exec is grounded in a legacy mindset of managing a business including using dated approaches to forecasting and resource tracking, and requiring non-billable resources to book their time, with punitive actions being taken for non-compliance. The organization is attempting to grow to new countries including Canada and the UK while they have a very shaky foundation and organizational structure. Be cautious of Cyclotron.
