DASI’s culture is something we work diligently to maintain. We take it into consideration in everything we do: our hiring practices, work-life balance, and the way we communicate with each other. The family aspect of our culture is something that we work particularly hard to preserve. This means that we are more accepting of other people’s points of view and even have disagreement like family members often do. In a family, all opinions have value, even if they are opposing viewpoints. Our relationships remain strong even when we don’t share a similar opinion.
We communicate regularly and our "performance evaluation process" mirrors that. An evaluation is possible at any time based on a team member’s request. The DASI evaluations are not traditional experiences though... they may be a sit down at Starbucks, lunch away from the office, a Red Wings hockey game, or cycling or running together. These are just a few of the types of events where evaluation and coaching discussions take place. Our goal is not make an evaluation a painful, formal experience but instead make it a time to really open up and provide mutual feedback. We also do not tie raises to the evaluation or coaching discussions, because we want to keep the conversations at a comfortable level without applying pressure to either individual. Instead pay/salary discussions are handled separately.
