      Pros

      -High salary for teachers -Good benefits (comprehensive health insurance but review the options carefully). -Strong Union and Union benefits

      Cons

      -Impact review system of teachers can ruin their careers. A friend had her 5 observations that all had her as a "highly effective teacher," then the test scores came out and her 4.8/5.0 score dropped to 2.9 making her "minimally effective." Keep in mind her class was 100% below the poverty line and 70% English Language Learner. Seems unfair to me!

      *Extremely intelligent, dedicated, and caring colleagues *Compensation was acceptable for the area *Our scholars and community members *A few "unicorns" working to make necessary cultural changes

      Cons

      *Unfair hiring and firing practices *Lip service about important issues (e.g. have a meeting about it and everything will change) *TFA elitist, ageist, credentials over experience, white is right approach permeates the entire organization, even though many people of color work there *There are some glass ceilings for certain populations at Central Office. *Meeting to plan meetings (too much talk, much less action)
