Pros

Some of the residents are great

Cons

No raises, management will hire people and train them knowing the person that will be fired so they can replace them. They have done this multiple times. They have no problem keeping staff until it is convenient for management to fire them.

Not a good fit

Pros

Working with the individuals made my day. Most of the DSP's are entirely wonderful. Most of the QIDP's and nurses really care about their individuals.

Cons

DSP's are grossly underpaid. Insurance coverage is poor. Some Administrators take advantage of everyone who is "below them". This is a company that does not respect any commitments you have to anyone but them.

Pros

Many dedicated long term staff that truly care about the individuals; stable client population; full benefits package including health, vision, dental, and life insurance, 401k match; strong training program at start of employment; wages higher than nearly all of the competitors in the area; the most stable and largest company in the state makes for a very stable career opportunity.

Cons

turnover is lower than it was when I worked in healthcare (about half), but still higher than hoped for; on call requirement for management - there is an ebb and flow - I might get almost no calls for weeks and weeks, and then get a whole lot; have to be able to work independently and manage a schedule, and lead a staff team - that can be hard for some people to do. (A lot of people who leave then try to come back when they realize the job was actually a job they miss, and when they do not find comparable jobs or benefits elsewhere.)
