Pros

Good outer appearance of supposedly caring about the workers

Cons

The whole approach is flawed. No one stays more than a year and nothing is effectively done about the homelessness crisis.

Pros

Harm reduction and housing first values. Clinical staff use client centered methods. Some entry level positions are decent for people who need social services experience.

Cons

There are no caps for clinical caseloads. Staff at every level of the organization are treated as disposable. It operates an internal propaganda machine that sends a message to burnt out staff that they're weak, have bad boundaries or bad self-care. There is an unnecessary layer of demoralization.

Pros

The majority of DESC staff really care about their work, the clients, and coworkers. I looked forward to working nearly every day.

Cons

Low expectations held for on-call workers
