Pros

Good pay, experience, and benefits

Cons

Management is incredibly frustrating. When you receive a written warning, there’s no clear timeline indicating when the consequences will cease. Even something you did a few months ago can still have a lasting impact on you years later.

Pros

Generous pay for nurses, can flex your time

Cons

Health insurance is terrible if you want to cover anyone else in your family besides yourself. They do not contribute towards your retirement. Time off may look generous but this also includes all federal holidays, if you want to get paid on one of these days (that you wouldn't be working anyway if they are closed), you have to use your PTO. Supervisors and Mgmt don't *really* care about helping nurses on the ground, although the talk is big. The social culture at DESC is insane. It is a popularity contest, you won't move up or around based on your merits but who likes you. People are doing ALL sorts of things while on shift.
