Pros

The only reason why I gave DESC two stars instead of one star is because its a great place to get your foot in the door to start a career in the mental health field and the Paid Time Off (PTO) is AWESOME.

Cons

The great staff, including supervisors don't stay long because its a foot in the door agency. You top out salary wise at the end of five years. If you don't want a revolving door then pay more. I understand that its "all about funding resources" but topping out only after five years just sucks.

Workload unrealistic, high stress, lots of paperwork, management seldom solicits or takes advice from workers, management is not very innovative, resources are scarce

Pros

The number one pro is the clients that DESC choose to serve. Working at DESC, I had so many wonderful co-workers. So many staff really care and bend over backwards for their clients. DESC provides a lot of valuable trainings and educational opportunities. It is a great place to learn a lot. I felt very valued by my team and supervisors. I really loved the framework and approach to services. The PTO is great. Overall I really loved my experience at DESC and would work there again.

Cons

The pay. The fact that they do not provide you with a ORCA pass.
