Pros

Chances to move up, if they like you.

Cons

The store i worked at was very sexually harrasing. Women were not as good as men. If managers wanted you out they would cut your hours, give you the worst hours, worst jobs to do, etc.

Pros

As a Footwear Sales Lead I was able help a number of people above and beyond the company expectations. I was able to analyze customers gaits and shoe fit issues instead of just running shoes back and forth as was done before me. I was able to train my staff the way that I wanted.

Cons

Stockroom was a mess, every other department would have blockage in my aisles. I had to help unload the truck, tag my own freight, stock my own freight, help customers, and set plan, and do price checks. There was never enough time to do this correctly. Never. Management sat on their butts, all old lifers, people that should have been cycled through the company a long time ago. After all that we would get our hours cut and it would be increasingly difficult to dig our self out as a store. We all knew managers took a bonus for meeting plan and cutting hours and this made "crew managers" pretty angry, we were the middle guys. The middle guys got squeezed quite a bit.

Pros

-If you're someone who wants a job in retail without doing too much, you will enjoy working here -Meet nice people -Decent discount on items (especially nice if you're into sports)

Cons

-Dealing with immature people who blame others if and when they make a simple mistake -Most customers will always act rudely towards you -It's another retail store, so even if you feel you belong there because it's a sporting goods store, you still have to put up with the managers/co-workers there who make too much of a big deal out of small, little things that happen in running the store, just like at any retail job
